Durante los últimos años este deporte ha venido ganando mucha fuerza en nuestro país y cada vez son más los jóvenes que lo practican <strong>en diferentes partes del territorio nacional.</strong></p> <h2><strong>Sebastián Holguín, joven realidad de nuestros downhill</strong></h2> <p><strong>Sebastián Holguín</strong> es un nombre al que tendremos que irnos acostumbrando a ver en<strong> las competencias del downhill colombiano y mundial.</strong> Este joven, originario de <strong>Santander de Quilichao en el Cauca</strong>, es uno de los nuevos talentos que Colombia tiene en este deporte. <strong>Sebastián, hijo de Germán Holguín, </strong>uno de los primeros exponentes de este deporte en el país, heredó de su padre el amor, el talento y la pasión por este deporte.</p> <p><strong>Holguín practica el downhill desde los seis años</strong> y compite de manera oficial desde los 11. Para 2016 llegó<strong> su primera oportunidad en un Torneo Panamericano en Cusco Perú, </strong>donde tuvo destacada actuación logrando el segundo lugar del evento. <strong>Para 2017 y 2018 fue oro en esta misma competencia,&nbsp;</strong>mientras que en 2021 y 2022 logró la plata en este mismo certamen. Por el momento <strong>el logro deportivo más importante de este rider colombiano lo obtuvo en 2022 en la Copa del Mundo de la categoría en Snowshoe, Estados Unidos</strong> donde consiguió el tercer lugar del evento.</p> <p><strong>El talento, la destreza y la rapidez de Sebastián Holguín </strong>sobre la bicicleta lo ha convertido en gran protagonista del downhill mundial. <h2><strong>La historia del downhill de los cerros orientales con el Red Bull Cerro Abajo</strong></h2> <p><strong>Para conocer la historia de esta carrera tenemos que remontarnos al año 2012,</strong> tiempo donde se llevó a cabo la primera carrera de este estilo en nuestro país. La prueba, en un principio, no tenía el mismo recorrido que hemos visto en las últimas ediciones. La <strong>Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo </strong>no solo tiene un recorrido total de 2 km sino que se corre desde el año 2003 y parte del punto más alto del <strong>‘Cerro Cárcel’</strong> en esta ciudad y hace parte de un sistema montañoso de esta <strong>parte del territorio austral que está conformado por 42 montañas.</strong></p> <p>A lo largo de la rica historia de esta prueba en el <strong>downhill</strong> mundial, Chile tiene un total de 8 triunfos, seguido por Eslovaquia con 4, Francia con 2, República Checa con 2, Alemania con 1 y <strong>Colombia con un título logrado en 2013 por el gran Marcelo Gutiérrez.</strong></p> <p><strong>Las dos pruebas tienen ambientes y matices diferentes,</strong> mientras que<strong> Monserrate </strong>se funde entre la religiosidad del cerro, la naturaleza del descenso y las escaleras empedradas, <strong>Valparaíso</strong> se mezcla con lo urbano, el asfalto, las rampas y la pista entre las casas de esta tradicional e histórica ciudad chilena. Esta forma de usar la bicicleta lleva a los corredores al límite jugando con el peligro, la adrenalina y la naturaleza.</p> <h2><strong>¿Qué es el downhill?</strong></h2> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;"><strong>Downhill </strong>en español significa "colina abajo". A esta modalidad también se le designa con la abreviatura de <strong>DH</strong>. Este género del ciclismo de montaña consiste en descender de una montaña atravesando terreno agreste, que tiene <strong>saltos, caídas, obstáculos y rock garden</strong> (sectores con muchas piedras que exigen la destreza y habilidad del ciclista).</p> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;">El downhill como modalidad competitiva se empezó a disputar en <strong>1976</strong> cuando en Fairfax (Estados Unidos) se realizó el primer evento. Se usaron bicicletas playeras por su estabilidad, adecuadas con <strong>frenos coaster</strong> o de pedal. En total, 10 corredores bajaron una montaña en un recorrido de 400 metros y registraron un tiempo de 5 minutos.</p> <h2><strong>¿Qué bicicletas se pueden usar en el downhill?</strong></h2> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;">Las bicicletas de downhill son especiales. Están diseñadas para descender y recibir impactos del terreno a grandes velocidades. Son prácticamente únicas para esta modalidad.</p> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;">En primer lugar, tienen <strong>doble suspensión</strong>: delantera y trasera. Estas suspensiones son de 200 mm de recorrido y tienen la capacidad de bloquearse.</p> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;">En cuanto a los <strong>marcos</strong>, están hechos de aluminio y a nivel profesional de fibra de carbono. El competidor número 1 e histórico del país por mucho tiempo fue el gran <strong>Marcelo Gutiérrez</strong>,<strong> quien ha sido quinto en el Mundial de Andorra 2015, 4 veces podio en válidas de la Copa del Mundo, y 5 veces al hilo triunfador en Crankworx.</strong> En la actualidad, el manizalita ha innovado en el downhill urbano.</p> <p style="font-weight: 500; margin-bottom: 1.5em;">Rafael, su hermano, es otra de las figuras del páis, quien se proclamó campeón panamericano en 2018, en su tierra natal. Su padre, compañero, amigo y motor de inspiración también fue un aficionado de las bielas, su pasión y su espíritu de competencia inculcaron y formaron el talento que hoy disfrutamos de Marcelo en las pistas del mundo.</p> <p>A los 11 años llegó al <strong>Downhill </strong>una disciplina que lo cautivó y lo enamoró. “Es un deporte individual en el que compite usted contra usted, en el que debe&nbsp;adaptarse&nbsp;a la pista&nbsp;para saber y conocer cómo cambia;&nbsp;si llovió cambió, si está más seca cambió, esa parte hace que sea llamativa y le quite la rutina del deporte”.</p> <p><strong>Derecho y sin freno</strong></p> <p>Perseverante, optimista y fuerte, estas son las tres palabras con las que se define él mismo ante las cámaras de <strong>Señal Colombia Deportes</strong>. Y así fue, desde que llegó al <strong>Downhill </strong>no paró, sus triunfos y buenas participaciones empezaron a engalanar sus vitrinas, su palmarés deportivo lo fueron consagrando como una de las figuras más influyentes de este deporte no solo en <strong>Colombia </strong>sino en el mundo.</p> <p>Cuatro veces <strong>campeón nacional</strong>, <strong>campeón Panamericano</strong> en 2012, habitual participante de la <strong>Copa del Mundo UCI</strong> desde 2008 y top 10 en 2012, segundo en el <strong>Crankworx Whistler</strong> en 2011 - 2012 y cinco veces campeón de esta modalidad, además de ser oro en los <strong>Juegos Nacionales,&nbsp;</strong>lo respaldan.</p> <p><strong>Una pausa que buscaba</strong></p> <p>El 2020 fue diferente para Marcelo, a finales del 2019, a través de su canal de <strong>Youtube,</strong> confirmó que ese año serviría&nbsp;para tomarse un descanso pero ¿Por qué? En esa época, los tramos eran más cortos que los que vemos ahora, con algunos de los tradicionales obstáculos que debían enfrentar los competidores.</p> <p>Para el año 2019 la organización de la prueba cambió el recorrido y lo llevó a consagrarse como<strong> la prueba de downhill de mayor extensión en todo el planeta </strong>recibiendo así el reconocimiento por parte del <strong>libro de los Guinness Records</strong>. En esa edición <strong>el colombiano Marcelo Gutiérrez </strong>se coronó campeón de la competencia lo que ha impulsado la participación de muchos más compatriotas en este tipo de competencias.</p> <p>Vale la pena destacar que en el 2021 la carrera se corrió sin la presencia de público y se constituyó en <strong>uno de los primeros eventos deportivos colombianos, después del fútbol, en reactivarse paulatinamente tras el parón por la pandemia</strong>.
